Then there was the nagging thought that one person (my boss) got to decide each year how much I was worth. He and my company decided that all I got was x% increase in income each year.  Even if I had a stellar year, there's a cap on how much of an increase I got. 

Someone else sets the limit.  Don't get me wrong, they paid me well, but I wanted to be the one to decide what I'm worth and how much money I made each year.  And somehow I knew that I was worth more than the average 3-6% increase that most corporate jobs give you each year. So, I decided this isn't what I wanted in life and I set out to discover a different (yet lucrative!!) way to live.

Not only did I decide that I wanted to be the one to decide what I was worth, I also decided that whatever I chose to do...

• It had to be EASIER
• It had to be lots more FUN than my daily 9-5 corporate grind 
• I absolutely did NOT want another job that felt like exhausting work

Shocker!

When I finally submitted my resignation from my corporate job, everyone was shocked!  I was a manager there for 18 years and became almost an icon at that company.  Immediately after I told people I was resigning, I had a steady stream of people knocking on my door, phoning and emailing me from around the company.
